We provide full-time education and support from Years 7 to 11 (reception to Year 13 via our Home Tuition Service) for 11- to 16-year-olds who have had difficulties with their learning and behaviour in mainstream school. Some students are with us for a few months, others throughout their secondary schooling.
At Mayesbrook Park School, we aim to give all our students the necessary skills to move forward successfully into the next phase of their lives – be that reintegration into mainstream school, further education or employment.
Through our balanced curriculum, personalised support and enrichment activities, we encourage students to engage with their studies. Through our team of skilled teachers and learning support staff, we help reduce their barriers to learning. And through our high expectations, we challenge our students to succeed.
As well as growing academically, we want our students to develop emotionally and socially so they can contribute to the wider community. We listen to them, encourage them to take on responsibilities, and we work to develop positive relationships and mutual trust across our school. We also work closely with parents/carers and outside agencies to create a safe, secure and enjoyable learning environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential.
Since our last Ofsted report in June 2016, the school has made rapid improvements in its leadership and management, student behaviour and student-staff relationships. Ofsted praised these improvements when they visited to check progress in June 2017. We know there are always areas to work on and, moving forward, we will be striving to further improve the quality of our teaching, learning and assessment, and how we monitor students’ progress and raise their achievements.
