Erkenwald’s Family Support Worker Tracy Evans was named Practitioner of the Year at the School-Home Support Staff Awards in July for her work at the campus.
Tracy supports the campuses’ students and their families in many ways, including making home visits, seeing them one-on-one at school, and by directing them towards services that can help them with their issues.
Over the last year her work has included helping a young boy, who was suffering from severe physical injuries and mental stress after surviving a terrorist attack at his school in Pakistan, and supporting mother and daughter Sharon and Emily, who both suffered from extreme anxiety. With Tracy’s help, Emily went on to sit her GCSEs without having any panic attacks, and she now plans to go to college.
Jill Kitchener, Head of Campus at Erkenwald said: “We are very proud of Tracy. She is a valuable member of our team and goes to great lengths to ensure our students are attending and ready to learn when they get here, and to help them and their families overcome the challenges they face.”
