Seabrook Campus

Welcome from the Head of Campus

Welcome to Seabrook Campus, which along with Mayesbrook Park and Erkenwald Campuses makes up Mayesbrook Park School. At Seabrook, we provide a six-week Positive Return programme for up to 25 students aged 11 to 14 who have been struggling with social, emotional or mental health issues in their mainstream school and are in danger of permanent exclusion.

The Positive Return curriculum focuses on giving our students the skills and confidence they need to return to their schools and be successful. Each week is self-contained and has a theme – Confidence, Control, Communication, Cooperation, Creativity and Critical Thinking. Morning lessons focus on developing learning skills and include English, Maths, Science, Art, and Personal and Social Development. In the afternoons, students learn life skills, participating in a range of activities from cooking to gardening, first aid to outdoor activities.

We want our students to progress in all areas of the curriculum and, most importantly, to help them make a ‘positive return’ to their mainstream school. To do this, we offer a supportive, caring environment, a ‘breathing space’ where we can help them overcome their barriers to learning. We use a range of methods including: the nurture class, small groups, one-to-one and counselling sessions. On arrival at Seabrook, each student’s learning and personal needs are assessed and are then focused on in all the classes and activities. All students are assigned a mentor who helps them work towards their personal goals, monitors their progress and keeps their parents/carers informed about how they are getting on.

Our committed, highly qualified staff are all trained to teach in alternative provision, to mentor and to meet students’ individual needs. They work very closely with parents/carers and our partner organisations to support our students and their families.

Developing positive relationships and trust is at the heart of our school’s ethos. We value and support our students, and we listen to their ideas and opinions. In return, we have high expectations of their behaviour and commitment to progressing.

We believe that all our students can be happy and successful, and we support them to build their confidence and self-esteem so they are ready to re-engage successfully with their mainstream school and achieve their full potential.

I hope you enjoy visiting our website. If you require more information or would like to visit us in person, please contact our campus office.
